CCTV Pipe Inspection

Southeastern Surveying and Mapping Corporation (SSMC), one of Florida's leading professional services companies for surveying, mapping, subsurface utility engineering (SUE) and geographic information systems (GIS) services, is pleased to announce the introduction of its latest service to its client base‑closed‑circuit television (CCTV) utility inspection services. SSMC had previously provided this service through a sub‑consultant, but due to growing demand, has added this service under its Utility Division.

Using the Cues CCTV and DVD/VHS Recording System, SSMC can now provide clients with color digital imagery and/or color digital video for pipes from 6 inches to 100 inches in diameter. CCTV software allows seamless recording of all pertinent pipe data easily recorded onto DVD/CD and printable table formats for report supplementation. All video imagery can be linked to the pipes in a GIS for seamless mapping and video review in the office.

SSMC can provide:

  1. Full Color Computer Generated Reports
  2. Full Color Video and Still Images
  3. Pan, Tilt and Zoom Cameras
  4. 6" through 100" Pipe Inspections
  5. On‑site DVD/CD Reports

The Cues CCTV utility inspection system allows the operator to record important information such as time, date, manhole/station numbers and operating personnel. The use of this system allows SSMC to localize and pinpoint problems such as cracks, sags, root obstructions or breaks. The system is used to perform as‑built inspections, locate service connections, and find buried manholes, valves, etc.

On a recent project for the City of Daytona Beach, SSMC used CCTV technology to help perform subsurface exploration, mapping and pipe condition reports for large sewer pipes up to 93 inches in diameter that were installed in 1947. The Bay Street Utility Mapping Project involved having an SSMC field team member float a camera through flooded pipes as the basis for the preparation of a pipe condition report.

SSMC's list of clients continues to grow with private and public organizations that require infrastructure assessment and mapping. The Florida Department of Transportation, the Florida Hospital chain and Brassfield & Gorrie are just a few examples of return clients calling for CCTV services.

"We pride ourselves in service diversity and are constantly pushing ourselves to provide maximum value to our clients. This is especially critical in today's economy. We've been in business since 1972. People want to do business with people they know and trust. We're in it for the long haul and we want our clients to know that," says Russell Daly, Business Development Coordinator for SSMC. "CCTV inspection services are another means to meet growing demand in our continual pursuit of service excellence."
